Who We Are

Dutch Van Spall

Dutch Van SpallDutch is a co-Director of Big Help Management and responsible for Artist Development – and Director of the Big Help Academy for talented young performers. He founded the training and opportunity scheme “Teenidol” in 2002 and helped start similar schemes in Melbourne, Beijing, and Malta. He is the owner of Priderock Recording Studio and is also the founder and Tour manager of the summer Festival “Folk on the Water” and promoter for the regular Music event “Glee Night”.

He is a judge for the national talent competitions “Live & Unsigned”, “Open Mic UK” and “Britain Does Variety” - and judges the local competitions “Coventry’s Got Talent” and “Stratford’s Got Talent”.

His background has been in the theatre (having started his early career at the Loft Theatre in Leamington Spa), and he has since worked in Radio, community TV and numerous recording studios. He helped design and create the Region’s award winning music venue “The Assembly” and continues to take a keen interest in the careers of local musicians and an active role in live music events.

His passion is working with young performers and helping them to develop their skills and take steps towards realising their full potential.

Paul Crick

Paul CrickPaul Crick is Big Help Management’s other and newest member of the management team having joined in March, 2010. Paul is a man of many parts and combines his skills and experience as a management consultant, educator, psychologist and musician to the Big Help Management team.

Paul is responsible for strategy and commercial development looking at ways of expanding what Big Help Management beyond what it currently does. Our goal is to offer more young people the opportunity to explore positive ways to express themselves through music and - if they so choose - become successful, artist-entrepreneurs within the music industry at whatever level they wish.

Pauls has over 20 years commercial experience and has spent the last 10 years working around the world for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, IBM and Capgemini as a management consultant advising household names such as Nestle, Mars and Proctor & Gamble on marketing. Paul has also gained operational experience working with UK Government departments including HMRC, DEFRA and DWP.

Paul teaching experience was gained as a visiting member of faculty at Henley Business School for 5 years teaching on their MBA and MSc courses, designing components of their courses and as a dissertation supervisor for final year MBA students.

Paul has been a musician for most of his life and has pursued his passion when not running around the world having built his own garage based, recording studio and studied guitar at Berklee College of Music. Paul can be found ‘walking his talk’ in the Big Help House Band from time to time playing guitar and keyboards supporting young, emerging artists playing live.
